PSR9000 / Formula-style RC car

From a sketch of the suspension to a working formula-style RC car. PSR9000 brings together custom CAD, 3D-printed components, Arduino electronics, and a lot of hands-on iteration.

01 / Geometry first

Build the car around the suspension.

We started with a front-view suspension sketch, then developed the chassis around double wishbones, steering geometry, and shock packaging. Printed control arms and ball joints let us prototype quickly; the knuckles exposed the limits of thin PLA parts under impact.

02 / From CAD to hardware

Make it fit. Make it serviceable.

A brushless motor, differential, Arduino Nano, IMU, and SD card logger had to share a compact chassis. We moved from a breadboard to soldered perfboard, and learned how tight packaging complicates troubleshooting. Wheel-speed sensing worked on the bench but was not functional in the final build.

03 / Test, learn, repeat

A working prototype. A longer list of lessons.

The report records a real-world run of about 30 mph. Aerodynamic parts were designed around a formula-car layout, but their performance was not validated with CFD or controlled testing. A future iteration would prioritize stronger knuckles, easier access to electronics, and a single integrated circuit board.
